AC Milan offered to purchase Reiss Nelson in the summer
Reiss Nelson has produced a few top moments for Arsenal this season, which includes that late winner against Bournemouth a few weeks ago. However, due to his lack of game time, it has been rumoured that he might want to move away from the club soon. In that pursuit, the Gunners will also not stop the player as long as the asked price is met.
As per the reporting from Calciomercato, the Milan management are keen on investing in a young striker to work alongside Olivier Giroud and the potential sale of Ante Rebic could open up the space for the signing of a wide player too. This is where Nelson comes into picture in their radar, who has shown great promise so far in his career.
Nelson has struggled for consistent playing time since graduating from Arsenal’s academy having spent time on loan with Hoffenheim in Germany (31 appearances, 8 goals, 1 assist) and then at Feyenoord (33 appearances, 4 goals, 7 assists). He returned to north London after his spell in the Netherlands but has so far made just 13 appearances across all competitions for only 500 minutes in total, but with 3 goals and 3 assists to his name.
This is largely because of the fact that Arsenal are currently packed with plenty of good options across all the attacking positions. The likes of Gabriel Jesus and Martinelli have been taking primal goal-scoring responsibility, while the likes of Leandro Trossard, Bukayo Saka and Eddie Nketiah.
Nelson has a deal which expires in June 2023, therefore at the end of the season, so his entourage have begun to look around and they have offered him to Milan who are seriously considering the deal. However, they will only pounce in the event that a renewal with the Gunners does not materialise. Given he would be available on a free transfer there is an opportunity, and the Rossoneri have one of two non-EU slots available.
While it is possible for the side to send him on a free deal, Arsenal have also been plotting their plans to ensure he remains as a strong back up option for the Gunners, who made their first proper challenge for the title in two decades.
