Borussia Dortmund slap a huge asking price on Jude Bellingham

3 November, 2022

At this point, it is no secret that Jude Bellingham is one of the most coveted players in the world. The young English midfielder is expected to be one of the standout players in the game in the future and he has been consistently garnering praise for his performances with Borussia Dortmund in Germany.

Having spent his youth career with Birmingham City, Bellingham joined Dortmund in 2020. Such was his impact with the senior side of Birmingham City where he made just 41 appearances, that the club decided to retire his jersey number 22 in order “to remember one of our own and to inspire others.”

At Borussia Dortmund, he not only managed to establish himself in the first team quickly but also became one of the brightest stars in the team along with Erling Haaland who recently secured a big move to Manchester City and has lit the Premier League on fire.

19-year-old Bellingham is also expected to take a similar big step soon in his career and with the likes of Liverpool, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Manchester City, and Manchester United, all interested in him, there is no shortage of interesting suitors for his talents.

It remains to be seen whether Bellingham decides to leave Borussia Dortmund next summer or not. One of the top three nominees in the Kopa Trophy and Golden Boy award, Dortmund value him very highly and will not make it easy for any interested party to secure his services without paying the right amount.

A report from Bild suggests that Dortmund bosses are looking at a figure of around €150 million for Bellingham to part ways with him.

That kind of a transfer fee will make him the second most expensive teenage signing in the world after Paris Saint Germain paid €180 million to acquire Kylian Mbappe from AS Monaco in 2017.

Given the stature and the reputation of the clubs involved in the process of signing Bellingham, which includes both Liverpool and Real Madrid, it won’t come as a surprise if either of them do decide to pull the trigger and sign him for that amount.
