Cristiano Ronaldo set to leave Al Nassr for Real Madrid role

28 April, 2023

Cristiano Ronaldo had a torrid end to his stint with Manchester United, which put a fullstop to his time in Europe as a professional footballer. While there were speculations that Ronaldo was getting offers from European clubs, there were nothing to suggest that he will stay. Eventually, he moved out to Saudi Arabia in a deal that saw record-breaking money involved.

He moved to Saudi Pro League club Al Nassr on a free transfer, a deal which will see him earn a massive salary of £173m a year. No footballer in the world is currently earning as much money as he does and he is off to a fine start to life in Asia, most recently scoring four goals in a match against Al Wehda. He also completed the milestone of 500 league goals in his career.

Now, Ronaldo is rumoured to leave Saudi soon as Real Madrid are set to offer the footballer a massive ambassador role. This could fit with the Portuguese player’s requirements across all verticals and he will get to live in Europe, something he would ideally prefer. The reports said that Perez wants Ronaldo to play a role as a club ambassador or to be part of their sports organisation chart.

Before joining the Saudi side, it was also reported that Ronaldo tried his luck at sealing a return to Real Madrid. The former Manchester United and Juventus man scored 450 goals and provided 131 assists in 438 games during his time at the Bernabeu. Nevertheless, Perez had blocked the player’s potential return to the Bernabeu. However, he has now been offered a return to Los Merengues but not in a playing role.

Ronaldo returned to United in September 2021 from Juventus and scored 24 goals across all competitions for the side. While his scoring record was exceptional, plenty of experts kept pointing that he wasn’t doing much in terms of contributing defensively to the team, which played its part in the downfall of Manchester United last season.

Manchester United went on to win the Carabao Cup and also reached the FA Cup final. They’re on the verge of sealing a place in the top four as well, making the Ronaldo leaving decision a beneficial one for all parties involved. Stay updated on Football betting opportunities by visiting Nextbet
