Eden Hazard set to quit Real Madrid this summer
Eden Hazard was one of Premier League’s most decorated talents of all time, who made a stellar impact on and off the pitch with his creative passing, genius movement and impeccable finishing. The Belgian winger tasted great success with Chelsea and in a bid to expand his horizons further, he moved to Real Madrid in 2019, but that didn’t work up as well.
Since his first season, Hazard has been facing plenty of injuries and never got into the Los Blancos’ setup as well as he would’ve liked. However, what kept him going is the fact that he was playing for one of the biggest football clubs in the world and has given plenty of years dedicated to making things work. However, it seems like the time is up now.
The Belgian has already expressed his frustration over the lack of game time under manager Carlo Ancelotti. Hazard has played just three matches in La Liga for the Galacticos and seven across all competitions included, scoring just one goal. Since moving to the Bernabeu, he has played 73 matches and scored seven goals, a record that doesn’t justify his talent.
Hazard is yet to feature on the field for Real Madrid since the end of the FIFA World Cup 2022, despite being fully fit. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has stated that Hazard wants to start regularly with Madrid and be part of the playing XI and as it stands, he is looking at alternate options across Europe.
“Hazard wants to play. He wants to be a regular starter, with game time, and be part of the starting XI”, he said. “This is crucial for him, more than the league or country he plays in. There will be a meeting with Real Madrid to discuss his future soon.”
Real Madrid signed the player for a whopping reported fee of €100 million, which could rise to €146.1 million due to additional fees, on a deal worth £400,000 per week. He had signed a five year contract which expires at the end of next season and if the Galacticos want to earn any little money by shipping the player off, the upcoming window is their only option.
