Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell is not satisfied with the fact that his club went only for Gabriel Jesus in the summer for this edition. With the Brazilian star picking up a major injury that rules him out for nearly the entire season, Campbell advised the Gunners to sign two players.

One of them is French forward Marcus Thuram, who had a sensational outing in the World Cup final against Argentina recently. Thuram, alongside Randal Kolo Muani, was brought in as a surprise substitute in the 40th minute after Didier Deschamps’ side went 2-0 down. Although nothing was expected of France, and two young strikers, they delivered. 

Whilst Muani won the penalty, Thuram assisted the second goal to Kylian Mbappe as France dragged the game into penalties. Although they lost the match, the current Borussia Monchengladbach striker is on the radar for multiple clubs as their next big striking option. 

Thuram, son of legendary French footballer Lilian Thuram, has scored 41 goals and 26 assists in 119 matches for the German club he currently playing for. The 25-year-old’s experience and exuberance will be a great addition to Mikel Arteta’s central attacking prowess, which currently is a position filled up only by Gabriel Martinelli and Eddie Nketiah. 

“Someone who can play across the front and someone who can give us a bit of physical presence up there because, although Eddie has been working on his physique and looks a bit stronger, [he is] somebody who is bigger, stronger, somebody more physical. It will be a fair deal because it will be pretty cheap because he has only got six months left on his contract, so it could be a good deal to be done,” Campbell said.

He also feels that Arsenal should go for another striker, most probably Chelsea outcast Christian Pulisic. The American forward had remained out of contention for Thomas Tuchel due to his repeated injury stints and it doesn’t feel like Graham Potter will be keen on giving him a few chances. It is being reported heavily in London that Pulisic is likely to leave in January. 

Arsenal will resume their Premier League campaign against West Ham at home on Boxing Day.
