Kylian Mbappe’s relationship with PSG is broken as the French superstar wants to leave immediately
Only a few months after extending his contract with Paris Saint Germain and turning down Real Madrid in a high-profile saga where even French football legends and the president of France Emmanuel Macron got involved, it seems that Kylian Mbappe’s relationship with the club is completely broken and that he wants to leave desperately and as soon as possible.
Spanish media outlet MARCA has made this bombastic claim and the news has been further verified by several sources including transfer window specialist Fabrizio Romano as well as GOAL and Le Parisien.
Apparently, the French superstar feels betrayed by the club’s top hierarchy who not only offered him the most lucrative contract in world football but also promised to make him an insider in sporting decisions taken at the highest level at PSG. The 2018 World Cup winner with France believes that PSG has not lived up to those promises, especially with his position and involvement on the pitch as well as the progression of the sporting project.
Mbappe feels betrayed by club president Nasser Al Khelaifi and the Qatari ownership who were desperate to keep him at the club at all costs at least until the 2022 World Cup. He was also left disappointed by Antero Henrique who was brought back into the fold this summer to manage the club’s transfer negotiations after being sacked as a sporting director previously.
He has also expressed his reservations about new manager Christophe Galtier and his system. Apparently, Mbappe prefers playing in a two-man striker system as he does with the France national team alongside the likes of Olivier Giroud, Karim Benzema, and Antoine Griezmann.
However, Galtier is unwilling to change a system that is working so well with Lionel Messi and Neymar leading the charge and being in the form of their lives in recent seasons. A lack of protagonism has also been explained as another cause of ire for Mbappe.
It is said the situation is so dire that Mbappe wants to leave as soon as possible, and he has set his sights on the January transfer window. Having rejected Real Madrid already, it remains to be seen whether Madrid monitor the recent developments and show any interest after they were left disappointed and dejected by his public refusal this summer.
PSG, on their part, are in no mood to part ways with Mbappe unless big money is involved. Only a few clubs in world football are capable of affording him and it will be an interesting situation to follow for the next few months.
