Roman Fury, brother of Tyson Fury, wins debut match in Pro Boxing

10 October, 2022

Roman Fury made his debut in Pro Boxing on Saturday in Doncaster and managed to emerge victorious over Ryan Hibbert. The 25-year-old boxer was judged the winner with a four-round decision and the referee handed down the sole score of 40-36. There could not have been a better start for Roman Fury, who hails from a long list of boxers in his family.

Roman is the brother of the popular Tyson Fury, formerly a WBC Heavyweight champion. He was accompanied by all the members of the Fury family for his debut bout, including his father John Fury, and brothers Tyson and Tommy Fury.

After the win over Hibbert, Roman mentioned that Boxing had helped him get out of difficult situations in life and he really enjoyed getting off the mark on his debut in the company of his father and brothers.

“I’ll have a drink, I’m off for two days. [Then] straight back in the gym. I’m a hungry baby and I’m gonna get it,” Roman Fury told Sporty Stuff TV. “Boxing has saved my life. I’ve been in a dark, dark place that I never thought I’d come out of, and it saved me. It really has.”

Roman Fury is expected to take the ring soon for his second bout. He is expected to fight on November 12, as part of the undercard to the exhibition clash between former world champions Ricky Hatton and Marco Antonio Barrera.

Just a few hours after the win, a lot of experts have already drawn some parallels between Roman and Tyson. It was pointed out by multiple fans on social media that both boxers have a very similar style and the agility in his movement really gives him an edge.

Tyson Fury is a two-time world champion and is currently ranked as the best heavyweight boxer in the world by ESPN. Often called “The Gypsy King”, he also held “The Ring” magazine title from 2020 to 2022. He has an impeccable professional boxing record, winning 32 of his 33 fights, and the other ending in a draw.

His other brother Tommy Fury is a professional boxer and a television personality, who appeared on popular programs like Love Island after taking a break from Boxing in 2019.
